Yahoo! Hunting for Yang's Successor
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Nov 19, 2008 1251 hrs IST

Earlier this week, Yahoo! announced that Jerry Yang would step down from the post of CEO and return to his former role as chief Yahoo! and board member. Jerry Yang, co-founder of Yahoo! had taken the role of CEO at the board's request in June 2007.

Board chairman Roy Bostock, along with independent directors and Jerry Yang, is leading the process of assessing potential candidates and determining finalists for consideration. The search will encompass both internal and external candidates. The board has also enlisted the services of international executive search firm - Heidrick & Struggles to assist in the process.

The past two years for Yahoo! have been marked by protracted negotiations with Microsoft regarding a possible takeover and with Google for a potential ad deal, both of which have come to nothing.
