iViaWorld Starts Travel Portal|

iViaWorld.com, a B2B travel marketplace has set up a portal to connect buyers and suppliers globally. The company has appointed Net Magic to maintain its server.
FlightRaja Travels, the parent company of iViaWorld has appointed Net Magic a managed IT service provider, specializing in Internet data centers to maintain the server. The server has been hosted at the Information Technology Park (ITPL) in Bangalore.
Talking to CXOtoday, Vinay Gupta, CEO of FlightRaja Travels said, "It took about 15 months to develop the product. In fact, we have a team of 25 software developers most of them from IITs who have been involved."
The company initially focused on air travelers with FlightRaja.com and following its success has developed another portal iviaworld.com.
The portal site allows stakeholders in the tourism industry globally agents, hoteliers, tour operators, guides, cab operators, forex, ticketing players to connect with one another and to do business with ease, transparency. We have now re-branded FlighRaja as Via and have added railways, hotels and other services on to the portal, said Gupta.
"The platform will allow travel agents to talk to the suppliers directly, negotiate prices directly and understand what they need to deliver a great holiday for their clients. The portal uses messenger, VoIP and Sip. We are presently offering phone, SMS, messenger, email all on the same platform," he said.
"The company has 25 software developers based out of Bangalore and. have used Java for the development of portal while C++ for all other technologies," said Amit Aggarwal, CTO of FlightRaja Travels.
In fact, we have developed an in-house algorithm for the search option and are filing for the patent shortly. Tourism industry estimates that the Indian travel industry does business worth Rs 500 crore per day and the online industry in travel and tourism is estimated at $2 billion and with 15-20 major players.
With an initial investment of Rs 3 lakh, six promoters got together for this start up this company three years ago and today the company s turnover is over Rs 1400-1500 crore. The company is present in 702 cities and with over 16,000 agents and 100 new partners joining Via on a daily basis.
"We are presently reaching out to about 16,000 tour operators across the country but the potential number of suppliers is about 30,000-40,000 and we are reaching to them by invitation," said Gupta.
