Next Generation of BI:Operational BI

Organizations have been using business intelligence (BI) for many years to monitor, report on, analyze, and improve the performance of their business operations. Most BI applications to date have focused on managing strategic and tactical business plans and initiatives. One of the biggest BI growth areas,however, lies in its use for managing and optimizing daily business operations.

This paper discusses the role of operational BI, and looks at the business case and requirements for building and deploying an operational BI system. It also reviews how the Sybase BI solution supports operational BI, and discusses companies that have put operational BI to work in their organizations.Organizations have been using business intelligence (BI) for many years to monitor, report on, analyze, and improve the performance of their business

Building a proper data warehouse and making further data mart for as per the need is the heart of business Intelligence. Now its up to user these data marts are being used for daily operational usage of routine monitoring and analyzing for improving business operation.

The true utility lies in providing a thoughtful integration of strategic, tactical and operational BI. Successful Corporate Performance Management has to engage all levels of the organisation and treat all of its employees as knowledge workers.
