18 year old young entrepreneur set to transform the edtech sector

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Shreyaan Daga, Founder OLL(Online Live Learning)

  1. How did you thought of starting OLL in such a young age?

When I was 15, I actually took the biggest risk of my life, I left home – and on the way I started donating all my belongings – wallet, slipper, watch and when I gave my cycle to this boy who was under privileged he took the cycle and these were his exact words, “Bhaiya Mera sapna poora ho gaya.” I founded OLL after realising how underprivileged children are in terms of opportunity and exposure, although having a lot of ability. I wanted to create a platform that could assist students in developing useful talents they could use in the real world since I was dissatisfied with the limited exposure provided to pupils and had first-hand knowledge of the limits of the current educational system.

  1. What is the business model of the company?

OLL, an edtech company which filter and Partner with Top teachers. They have listed  their Live Classes in Skills like Coding, Robotics, Public Speaking, Financial awareness. And then OLL connects them to eager Learners through Schools.

Because technological abilities are more in demand in today’s employment market, it is essential to continuously upgrade these skills in order to advance professionally. Through the introduction of technical skills for students across the nation, OLL is genuinely attempting to close the gap. In India, it has reached out to 32000 students and is still growing. It uses technology as an integrator. OLL has more than 2000 teachers that have jumped on board and are assisting students with courses in many languages and skills relating to technology, money, robotics, Fintech, coding, and public speaking. Additionally, OLL offers classes for certified live skill development.

They partner with top 1% teachers and list their courses like AI & robotics, public speaking, financial, etc. In 28 months they have up skilled Thirty Five Thousand learners. OLL aim to provide All possible skills on one platform with the Best learning experience to 1 Billion Daily Active Users. Their business model already yields a GM of 73%, and with such strategic investors on board, they aim to witness 200% year-on-year growth.

  1. What do you think OLL is different from other Edtech platforms?

The business model of OLL is pay before learn model where users pay a nominal fee to Learn Live classes. Our revenue comes from students who we reach to through schools. The unique feature of OLL is that we are For Students. By Students, and that’s something. Our focus is  practical, hands-on learning for skills that are relevant in the real world.

  1. Where do you see yourself in coming 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I see myself continuing to grow OLL and expanding our reach to 1 Billion Daily active learners around the world. I want to make sure that OLL is the go-to platform for anyone who wants to learn skills.

Currently there are no such plans for buying Byju, I am definitely ambitious on owning a billion dollar ed-tech company byju one day as I have earlier said.

  1. How was your experience win Shark Tank?

It’s like IIT for startups 5 Lac applicants -> 150 Air (0.03%), My experience on Shark Tank was nerve-wracking but incredibly rewarding. It was an opportunity to showcase OLL to a wider audience and get feedback from successful entrepreneurs. It was also a great learning experience that helped me refine my pitch and business strategy.

We’ve raised Rs.1.5 crore in seed funding so far, This year, we’re planning to raise another round of funding of 1.5 Crore rupees.
