In a bid to strengthen its presence in the RFID space and offer comprehensive solutions to customers, Satyam Computer Services announced today its partnership with OATSystems -- a provider of software for the High-Resolution Supply Chain.
With this partnership and with its cross functional RFID consulting team, Satyam is set to scale up its RFID and supply chain offerings including RFID readiness/impact, modeling, building RoI cases and systematic incorporation of RFID in the manufacturing and retail supply chains.
According to company claims, it has been making strategic investments in the Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) area till date, including the deployment of proof-of-concept (PoC) applications.
"The supply chain space, particularly the retail and defense vertical, will dominate in the use of RFID. The manufacturing industry and auto industry would follow closely," predicted GB Prabhat, director- consulting and enterprise solutions (CES), Satyam.
The only way to speed up the development of these market segments is through building alliances committed customer organizations and business partners that view RFID technology as a source of strategic advantage in the evolution of their worldwide operations. Our partnership with OAT systems is an important step towards strengthening our RFID solutions capability, Prabhat added.
OAT is a widely deployed, standards-based RFID software platform. It powers the RFID networks of several retail, CPG, defense and pharmaceutical companies. It has been used for tracking inventory and product movement across the supply chain and the product integrates with existing enterprise applications.
As an OAT Gold Consulting Partner, Satyam is well positioned to help customers deploy OAT solutions worldwide. Satyam also plans to develop repeatable solutions that will integrate with OAT EPC-IS Edge Server and other enterprise applications.
Satyams RFID competency is part of the Consulting and Enterprise Solutions (CES) unit, which offers RFID-enabled solutions in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Transportation, Asset Tracking, Access control, RFID Middleware implementation and integration with ERP systems.
