BigFix, provider of enterprise security configuration management solutions has recently released BigFix Enterprise Suite 6.0, the latest version of its flagship product designed to provide IT departments with a scalable platform to deploy multiple security configuration management functions.
The version 6.0 delivers a wide set of security, configuration and reporting functions for server, desktop, and mobile device management and builds on the capabilities of BigFix's locally-resident agent to act as a universal policy and reporting engine.
According to S.K. Raja, Country Manager, BigFix, "Enterprises with distributed networks across different geographies IT administrators often find it difficult to gain clear visibility into the endpoints. With BigFix Enterprise Suite they can quickly identify, assess and make the configuration changes in real time."
A key features in BigFix Enterprise Suite 6.0 is policy baselines which enables IT teams to evaluate and monitor devices against a set of enterprise standard configurations and automatically provision non-compliant devices in accordance with enterprise or group standards.
Combining security management functions with administrative duties is the idea that sits at the core of the software. BigFix believes that by converging the two functions can not only improve the quality of endpoint security configuration management service delivery but also reduce the costs of infrastructure operation and management.
Along with expanded reporting capabilities, the platform also offers executive dashboards that give most critical information for security and compliance including antivirus coverage health and status, spyware infection and remediation status, patch compliance, and other key metrics.
Also, a wake-on LAN feature in the version 6.0 enables administrators to wake up computers, install applications, remediate security issues and execute necessary reboots without major disruption in the end-user productivity.
The vendor has also incorporated a software usage tracking capability in the new version which can improve compliance visibility and drive significant cost savings by reducing purchases of underused shelfware and avoiding penalties and disputes regarding over used software.
"With BigFix Enterprise Suite 6.0 we are combining various compliance imperatives into a single, overall compliance framework to allow organization manage their IT operations efficiently and effectively," said Raja.
BigFix, which started out in 1997, entered the Indian market about a year ago. The company has over 25 customers across several verticals like BFSI, ITES, government etc. Some of BigFix's customers from BFSI include Bajaj Allianz and ING Vysya.
