Infosys BPO kickstarted its Maharashtra phase of Project Genesis that aims to provide training to university students in order to prepare them for BPO careers.
A community initiative of Infosys BPO, the project was inaugurated by Dilip Walse Patil, Minister for Energy and Higher Education, Government of Maharashtra. The inauguration was held at the Hinjewadi campus of Infosys near Pune.
The aim of Project Genesis is to align the teaching and course-curriculum at graduate dchools to the industry requirements so the students have an edge as far as employability is concerned. The objective is to provide graduate students more than theoretical knowledge and make them industry-ready by the time they graduate. The project focuses on creating awareness and educating the teaching fraternity in B and C towns of various states in India on BPO and skill sets required to succeed in a BPO career.
There are close to 130 lecturers attending the program from all universities across Maharashtra. The lecturers will be staying in the campus itself, as this is a fully residential program with Infosys taking care of all the facilities.
Project Genesis has so far trained more than 15000 lecturers and they have in turn trained close to 30,000 students across India.
