Organizations in the aviation space can now avail a new ATR MicroTCA chassis. Named the Blu!box, it is an ARINC 404A full-size ATR long enclosure, designed specifically for commercial and military aviation.
The 19" subrack chassis is 5U in height with a depth of 200 mm. It includes two MicroTCA carrier hubs (MCH), two power modules for - 48 V / - 60 V, and two cooling units that help the tested system platform to be fully redundant. The cooling units feature 5 high performance fans and have PWM (pulse width modulation) control.
The system can hold a maximum of 12 single module AMCs - 8 full size and 4 compact size modules. All components are hot-swappable and intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) controlled.
The backplane has a 20 layer structure that guarantees optimum signal integrity and supports all FRU (field replaceable unit) functions. It holds six AMCs, one MCH and one power module. Dual Star technology with high-speed connectors specially developed for high-speed data transfer ensures high-speed routing.
Designed for the testing requirements of the aviation sector, Blu!box meets the MIL-STD-810E shock/vibration requirements and MIL-STD-461 for electromagnetic interference. The chassis has also undergone the IEC 61587-1 and VITA 47 standards vibration and shock tests in six axes. Shock absorbers/dampers can be added for extra protection. Thermal management is also possible to achieve either convection or conduction-cooling.
Blu!box has been developed by Elma Electronic, a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products. It is being marketed in India by Mistral Solutions.
