2nd National Summit On Indian Smart Cities On Sept 9
The Indian government-led Smart Cities Mission is the next plan to drive the economic growth story of India, and improve the overall quality of life led by people with help of local development and harnessing technology as the road towards smart outcomes for citizens. The primary objective has been to provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of ‘Smart’ Solutions.
Considering the importance, the ‘National Summit on 100 Smart Cities India 2016’ has been organized to be held on September 9 in New Delhi. The theme will be ‘Building Today the Cities of Tomorrow’, where the forum will trace the importance of various aspects of infrastructure that needs to be planned, designed, built and operated in order to provide the ‘Smart’ attribute to a city development. It receives the endorsement of Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & IT, Govt. of India; COAI; ETSI; ISGF; One M2M and TAIPA.
Meetul Patel, General Manager of Marketing & Operation at Microsoft India, spoke about the important of the national summit, saying “The Indian Government’s vision of setting up 100 smart cities across the country is very exciting. The problems faced by different countries may look different but are essentially the root-causes and solutions are similar. We are creating solutions for Urban problems using IOT technology that will allow us to measure, analyze and improve different facilities of cities. These are applicable across all cities.”
The highly anticipated National Summit on 100 Smart Cities India will bring together the designated heads of municipalities, urban/city planning, research/academic institutes, engineers/consultants, energy and utility experts, mobility and transportation experts, technology providers who will discuss on the various aspects of a smart city including urban development, power, energy, transport, technology, green building, network & communication technology, etc. They will also share their expertise on best practice applications including unified surveillance technologies, internet –based monitoring and management services needed by regional governments and authorities
The event will be a timely opportunity to discuss the key trends, issues & challenges in smart city development, its market drivers and the outlook for India, aspects of safety, security and surveillance in a smart cities, role of Smart Grids in the New Government Programs and role of IoT for smart cities. It will also address the areas such as key elements of a smart communications network, sources of finance available for cities to deploy smarter technologies and to develop new smart cities, role of ICT in E-Governance/M-Governance, smart grid technology solutions, the key elements of smart social infrastructure (education, health, etc.) and the recent global advances in technologies for building smarter cities.
