Accusys will shortly launch its compact 4-drive external desk RAID in the Indian market. The sleek device can support up to 2TB capacity in a 15×6x7 chassis.

Speaking to CXOtoday, Samuel Chiang, regional manager- Middle East, Accusys, said, “The Acuta 4 has been built keeping in mind the needs of the price sensitive SOHO & SMB segment. The box supports SATA, Firewire A & B and USB 2.0, giving a much wider range of choice to suit a variety of deployment scenarios. It can be configured in RAID level 0, 1+0, 5, or 5+spare, allowing businesses to select their own configurations. What’s more, it’s OS independent and does not require the installation of any drivers or utilities, making it an ideal solution for time-bound deployments.”

When questioned about the price of Acuta 4, Abhijit Sen, country sales manager, Xserve India, said, “We are still in the process of deciding the price, but it will be somewhere within the Rs 1 lakh bracket. Demo pieces have already arrived, and the product should start shipping soon.”

With its stylish design and compact looks, the box looks like anything but a RAID. It is targeted at primarily the SOHO & SMB space, in diverse applications like audio/video storage, department storage, graphic design, research, etc.

Accusys and Wistron have a strategic alliance by which they are launching their storage products in India. Xserve will be responsible for servicing and marketing Accusys’ storage products in the country.
