CSI Summit

Computer Society of India (CSI), one of India’s leading IT associations, has planned to conduct their annual convention at Coimbatore for three days, starting December 8, 2016. With the theme ‘Digital Connectivity-social impact’, the convention is likely to host a global audience, ranging from students to researchers and technology professionals. In an exclusive interaction with CXO Today, P R Rangaswami, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of CSI-2016 speaks about the key attractions of this year’s CSI Annual National Convention.

Why is ‘Digital connectivity - social impact’ selected as the theme for this year’s event?

The theme will deliberate on the social impact that can be created by digital connectivity. The government is using technology to achieve doorstep connectivity with its citizens. Every social program is being pushed using technology – only connectivity can help in the scalability of such well-intentioned social programs. The success of the UIDAI program would not have been possible if not for digital connectivity; so is the case with direct transfer of subsidies.

At the same time, various entities like NGOs, voluntary organizations, social service organizations are reaching out to the needy with the help of technology. CSI-2016 will contemplate and imbibe the theme in every aspect during the 3 day event.

Please explain the profile of the visitors.

The visitor profile spans a wide range of professionals and students from the information technology and allied fields. The delegates will include representation by professionals from the software industry, digital technology, information technology, computer science and many other domains related to technology. Apart from the practicing professionals, the delegates will also have a sizeable representation of academics, researchers and students.

What sub-agendas and other aspects are likely to be discussed during the event?

Some of the topics that will be addressed during the event include enterprise computing, data virtualization, Internet of Things (IoT), modern database systems, IT for differently-abled, security and risk management, social media, algorithm and 3D printing in manufacturing, among others.
