Elbee Extends Shipment Tracking On Zee's 7575 Mobility Platform

In an effort to raise the bar of customer satisfaction, Elbee Express Ltd., has embarked on their latest initiative, through which customers can track consignments real time by sending an SMS to 7575, the mobility short code platform from the stables of Zee Networks

Speaking to CXOtoday on this initiative, Shirish Gariba, VP-IT, Elbee Express Ltd., said, “This is an effort in the direction of providing multiple media to customers in order to help them track their consignments. Through this initiative, customers will be able to know the status of their consignments real-time through their mobile phones.”

All a customer needs to do is type ETRK and SMS it to 7575. The query goes to Elbee’s Web server, which in turn pulls out the required information from the database and sends this information to Zee network’s SMS server.

From here the shipment status is sent back to the customer who has sent the query, as a return response, only within a few seconds. “We would be working extensively on wireless technology and SMS platform to provide enhanced service and value to our customers,” added Gariba.

Elbee’s website already has a facility, which allows customers to track their goods, as does Elbee’s call center. Fax is another medium that allows customers to track their goods. “The problem with Web services is that not everyone in an organization may have access to a website (for example someone in the administration, or some other deptt). Since almost every one carries a mobile phone, this initiative will get the necessary information quickly and in a very convenient manner,” added Gariba.

The technology is currently being used as a pull mechanism. According to Gariba, this technology will soon be used as a push mechanism whereby customers will be able to feed in their cell numbers through the website and in turn, will keep receiving updates of their goods position from time to time.

Elbee uses a combination of connectivity architecture (dial up, leased line, ISDN etc.) to keep its locations connected and enable goods tracking. Gariba however, was not willing to disclose the expenditure involved in the initiative.

Customer convenience has been kept in mind with utmost importance while this solution was being designed. The 7575 platform dynamically integrates with data center of Elbee Express System and generates the status report, which is to be sent to the customer.

Explaining the significance of the mechanism, Ishwar Jha, VP - business technology, Zee Networks, said, “Elbee has been pursuing customer service excellence as its core principle and through the 7575 mobility short code platform, we are committed to bringing innovative ideas and solutions to provide more value to their customers.”
