Hike Creates Milestone; Launches hike 4.0

Hike messenger, one of India’s fastest growing Internet companies, announced the official launch of hike 4.0, the biggest update in the history of the company that’s aimed at redefining the consumer experience in the instant messaging space. The latest release of hike 4.0 will be available for Android users on the Google Play Store starting today and Apple users on iOS App Store next week.

According to the company, hike 4.0 is 5x faster than its predecessor and is designed for the next billion Indian consumers, who are experiencing internet for the first time. The big new update has been optimized for low-end phones and particularly extremely poor network conditions.

Hike now also allows up to 500 members in a single Group Chat and introduced the ability to have multiple admins in a Group Chat to manage groups better making it extremely easy for big groups to be managed on hike.

In addition, gearing up for 4G, hike has introduced the ability to transfer any kind of file whether it be Documents, PDF, Zip & all other kinds of files up to a 100 MB each turning hike into a full functioning messaging client for any need. To add to the fun, hike has also launched photo filters & doodles to allow consumers to have fun and spice up their photos amongst a few other big upgrades to the app.

As a part of the new update Hike has also launched ‘News’ on hike, a service that allows users on the platform to get quick bite sized news updates in just under a 100 characters. Within 24 hours of the launch of ‘News’, hike already has over a million people actively using the service on a daily basis.

Commenting on the launch of hike 4.0 Kavin Bharti Mittal CEO & Founder hike said “We’re extremely excited to bring hike 4.0 to the market. It’s been 6 months in the making and it’s a really big update from it’s predecessors. Hike Messenger, also announced that it’s users now exchange a mammoth 20 billion messages on a monthly basis. The number has doubled in less than a year since the company’s previous announcement of 10 billion monthly messaging volume in August last year.

 

He further adds. “We’re not stopping here. We’ve got a lot more coming. Expect us to release one big new feature on top of this every month until the end of the year.”
