These technological advancement can be seen exceptionally fast in the 20th and 21st century.

Computer Based Test (CBT) mode is a new trend which has arisen for the conduction of various entrance exams. In India, many major examinations like CAT, JEE Main 2019, BITSAT etc. have now adopted the CBT mode.

Looking to the traditional mode, the exams are conducted in pen and paper based mode. In this mode candidates are provided with the questions papers and OMR sheets to mark the answers of the questions. On comparing with CBT mode, this mode is lot more lengthy for collecting and analyzing the results. Valuable time is lost in sending the answer sheets to the result calculating authorities due to the distance problem.

Introduction of CBT mode has eliminated various problems which the students were facing through traditional pen and paper based mode exam. Earlier candidates under pen and paper based mode system, were required to travel far away to appear for the exams. Through CBT mode, the examination schedule has been made flexible so that candidates can appear when ready to take it.

In this CBT mode, candidates can take their examination through the computer. This method enables the changes in the way of exams are designed, scheduled, organized, monitored and evaluated. Student downloads the exam paper on a particular date and time and answers it by clicking on the right option in the computer.

CBT mode is been considered the most prevalent testing method in the developed areas of the country. Through this method, the security level at various test centers has been increased. The problem of cheating and paper leakage is minimized by the introduction of CBT mode.
