Indian companies win honors at iCMG architecture excellence awards’10
Six Indian companies were among the 23 award winning companies who walked home with awards of excellence amidst enough fanfare at the Architecture Excellence Awards 2010 organized by iCMG, a Bangalore based enterprise architecture firm.
TATA Motors bagged the ‘Best IT Service management’, Evolvus India bagged the award in the ‘Startup’ category, Aircel and MTS shared the award in ‘Growing business in new territory or new service offering’, Reliance Life Insurance and ITC Infotech shared the best ‘Business Process Management’ award while Reliance Globalcom walked away with the ‘IT Landscape Rationalisation’ award.
The iCMG Hall of Fame award was shared by Thomas Mobray, an internationally-recognized author of 5 books (related to distributed computing & enterprise architecture) and Rajeev Batra, CIO of Sistema.
The “Architecture Excellence Awards” honors architects & enterprises whose work demonstrates a combination of talent, vision & workmanship, which are creating successful and enduring systems & enterprises. The international awards will be awarded each year to architects and organization for significant achievements, during the iCMG Architecture World conference
“Though this was the first year the awards have been instituted, we received more than 100 entries from across the world and finally 23 emerged as winners across categories,” said Sunil Dutt Jha, chief architect & CEO of iCMG.
Speaking on the occasion, the global guru and father of enterprise architecture, John Zachman said, “Though the idea of enterprise architecture was seeded nearly 30 years back, only recently we find that there is growing acceptance and demand for this discipline. The Architecture Excellence Awards is a great stride forward for enterprise architects with iCMG bringing international recognition for their valuable contribution to business performance.”
“We have also instituted the “Zachman award for Enterprise Architecture” which will be awarded every year along with other architecture awards. However, this year we felt no company met the benchmark set for the award hence there are no winners in the category. Both iCMG and Zachman International will work closely to ensure that award is managed and delivered with equanimity. Hopefully, with time it should become the Oscar for the Enterprise Architects,” he added.
The jury for the awards consisted of working professionals in the industry, all of whom have years of experience in managing complex IT systems & enterprises. Some industry stalwarts who were part of the jury were Steve Towers, author and founder & CEO of BP Group, Manoj Srivastava, VP (group IT) of Reliance ADAG, J P Zachman, VP of Marketing, Zachman International, Jaap Schekkerman, EA thought leader, Shirish Patwardhan, CTO of KPIT Cummins, and Sunil Dutt Jha, chief architect & CEO of iCMG
