Insurance Co Outsources Network Mgmt To Datacraft

As business faces boom time, a Bangalore based insurance company has outsourced its network management to Datacraft in order to have seamless data availability round the clock across its 44 branch offices in the country.

Speaking to CXOtoday, Nagendra Venkaswamy, president - India & sub-continent, Datacraft India Ltd., said, “The challenge before this insurance company was to connect all its branches and maintain data and voice consistency. Most importantly, constant monitoring of the network and maintaining a 24×7 uptime was a concern, which prompted the company to outsource the entire network maintenance.”

The company whose name has not been disclosed owing to non-disclosure agreement (NDA) needed a robust network to support its rapidly growing business without incurring cost on hiring and training expertise for the same. Under the contract Datacraft’s Global Services Centre (GSC) in Bangalore will provide the Insite network management services for the enterprise.

Speaking about the advantages that will accrue to the enterprise in the outsourced mode Venkaswamy added, “Our approach is much beyond just network management. In fact through the GSC expertise we devise and deploy a network architecture for our clients. Even for ensuring last mile connectivity Datacraft gets into collaboration with the service provider (in this case VSNL).”

As part of the service the client company will have access to a suite of on-line, real-time IT monitoring and management services that ranges from basic fault monitoring to extensive predictive analysis and reporting.

This initiative of connecting 44 branches involves an expenditure of close to Rs 5 crore according to Venkaswamy.

Disclosing the company’s pricing, Venkaswamy said, “Our pricing mechanism is based on the number of devices / elements (routers, switches etc.), types of elements, and types of reports needed by the organization. So it is customization based.” The insurance company being discussed has taken around 500 elements from Datacraft.

Datacraft provided a comprehensive solution that included the overall design, deployment, bandwidth provisioning and management of the Cisco-based infrastructure. Datacraft will also provide its uptime maintenance service for 24×7x365 support, troubleshooting and resolution.
