IoT For Smart Cities, Key Focus Of One Mega Event
One Mega Event’ that was held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi and brings five expos under one roof - the 3rd Smart Cities India 2017 expo, 2nd Solar India 2017 expo, 2nd Transport India 2017 expo, 4th Water India 2017 expo, and Buildings India 2017 expo - just concluded. Over 15,000 visitors thronged the various innovative booths set up by leading global players such as Oracle, Hitachi, Ericsson, among others and saw CXOs, partners, distributors and vendors, government officials and executives collaborating, networking and sharing best practices.
The Internet of Things (IoT) was one of the hottest topics at One Mega Event. With new and innovative IoT applications, which leverage connectivity and analytics among data and people, enabling smart city programmes all around the world, this year, One Mega Event focused on the topic, IoT for smart cities – creating the seamless fabric that fosters economic growth and productivity, thereby improving the quality of life through a better-connected society.
Companies of all size unveiled their latest technology products and services across 20,000 square-metres of exposition space. The event had over 400 exhibitors from around 40 countries. Over 50 conference sessions, networking events and world-class exhibit space ensured an experiential trade show for all those involved in promoting efficient buildings, solar power, smart transportation, smart cities and smart water management.
Ajay Pandey, CEO at Sehgal Foundation, said, “We intend to develop villages to an extent that they act as an inspiration for urban areas. This can be done by making water available in schools and by initiating water harvesting programmes in villages.”
The second Smart Cities India Awards 2017 were also presented to individuals, policy makers, companies, government bodies and associations who have contributed the most to the Smart Cities Mission.
Over a hundred entries were received at the second edition of the awards with 15 winners under 12 categories. Sterlite Tech – Elitecore, Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Surat Municipal Corporation won the three Jury Excellence Awards.
