Kurlon Finds Its Comfort On SAP
Kurlon Limited, a provider in the home comforts segment in India is all set to deploy mySAP ERP at the end of September, to enable operational efficiencies in its core business.
Speaking to CXOtoday, on its latest initiative, T. Sudhakar Pai, managing director, Kurlon Limited, said, “The purpose of deploying mySAP ERP is to enable integration of multiple functions, achieve standardization and gain business intelligence across our various locations.”
Recalling the pre-SAP environment, Pai said, “Kurlon always had home-grown ERP application, which had no standardization. The company was relying on historical data to forecast demand for the raw materials, which was a time-consuming task and prone to errors. Moreover, inter-category product profitability could not be determined, as much of the data was not even available.”
“This made the company go for an ERP software, which would not only cope with business dynamics but also facilitate exploring of diverse business opportunities in the domestic and the global markets,” he said.
The ERP solution will be implemented across six locations by Unisoft Infotech, and will be completed by the end of September, at a record time of three months. The first phase of the implementation will address supply and distribution, financial accounting (FICO) and material management (MM), and the second phase will cater to production and planning (PP), plant management (PM) and quality management (QM).
“Besides, we have also identified customer relationship management and product life-cycle management as the other key areas for improving business performance, which would also be addressed by the software,” stated Pai.
It took about 6-8 months for the company to select the ERP solution. Pai continued, “SAP’s time tested processes and systems and the availability of the industry best practices, made mySAP an easy choice for us.” Pai informed that TCO of the solution cost roughly Rs 90 lakh.
Powered by the SAP NetWeaver platform, mySAP business suite solutions is epxtecetd to help the company in improving their customer relationships, enhance partner collaboration and create efficiencies across their supply chains and business operations.
“We look forward to building a strong relationship with Kurlon to help the company realize its strategic objectives by introducing an integrated online information system, industry best practices and an enriched decision support system,” said Alan Sedghi, president and CEO, SAP South Asia.
With a head start in the business in 1962, Kurlon has a 55% market share nationally and had grown by almost 50% in the current year. It produces mattresses in 126 different configurations. With the implementation of SAP ERP, Kurlon joins a growing list of consumer product group companies using SAP solutions in India including prestigious names like HLL, Parle, Eureka Forbes, Tata Tea, Videocon, Heinz, Voltas, and Aravind Brands.
“We have grown exponentially over the last few years and we expect to grow in a higher proportion in the coming years. Kurlon is getting proactive on technology as we believe that integration, standardization and decision support systems are key to our success,” said a confident Pai.
