McAfee Unveils New Security Solutions In India
McAfee today launched its new host and network intrusion prevention (IPS) solutions, labeled Entercept 5.0 and IntruShield 2.1, and the next version of its anti-virus package - VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i.
The new solutions deliver encrypted threat protection by a network IPS, integration of firewall functionality in both IntruShield and Entercept products, as well as integrated host and network IPS event management.
Through the combination of Entercept and IntruShield, McAfee is targeting enterprises looking for a comprehensive solution that can proactively defend servers, desktops, network core and edge from the threat of known, zero-day and encrypted attacks
The features of IntruShield 2.1 include encrypted attack detection and prevention, internal firewall, virtual firewall, and host IPS event integration.
Entercept 5.0 software offers a blend of signature, behavioral and patented buffer overflow protection to defend against zero-day attacks that reduces the urgency of software patch deployments. Key features of Entercept 5.0 include firewall integration, and expanded attack signatures.
As threats continue to proliferate both in the number and speed of attack, implementing a comprehensive, multi-layered IPS solution is critical for today’s business environment. The combined solution will protect users from the desktop and server level all the way to the core of the network and WAN edge in a single integrated solution, said Parveen Jain, executive vice president of marketing and strategy at McAfee.
Entercept 5.0 and IntruShield 2.1 will be available through direct sales and channel partners in July. Existing McAfee IPS customers can obtain the new software under the conditions of their maintenance agreement.
McAfee also launched its VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i, an anti-virus solution for protection from malware for PCs and servers. The solution is targeted at small, medium and enterprise customers. It detects, identifies, alerts, cleans, deletes and prevents known and unknown malicious activity from infecting PCs and servers. The solution enables businesses with remote offices and mobile users to shift from reactive security measures, to a proactive security approach for securing PCs and servers against malicious code, hacker attacks and operating system and application software vulnerabilities.
Raj Dhingra, vice president of corporate and product marketing at McAfee, said, The solution provides users with a focused approach to system protection through the introduction of an integrated solution under one management console, eliminating the need to manage point solutions.
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise includes additional capabilities, such as email scanning for email on client systems running Lotus Notes, a smaller overall footprint, faster scanning and the ability to take action against unwanted programs with user-defined actions.
VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i is currently available in beta and will be generally available in Q3 2004 from McAfee and its channel partners.
