MPS Turns To Dell For faster Backup, Data Recovery
MPS Limited, a digital publishing services company, has recently implemented a backup and recovery solution to enable greater productivity with faster data recovery without any backup runs.
The Bangalore-based provider that helps transform and enrich content for print, online and mobile media, with multiple offices in India and in the US, chose Dell’s DL4000 Backup and Recovery Appliance running Dell AppAssure software as it was looking to build a scalable and easy-to-manage IT infrastructure to match the high-performance environment.
The new solution proved to be 54 percent more cost effective than competing cloud based solutions and scored a higher rating in comparison with other competitors, it said in a statement.
“Imagine waiting a day or two days for your data to be returned. It’s a loss of productivity for the employee and the business, and serious cost of up to US$24,000 per day – all bad news. With AppAssure, we avoid that situation. Personnel see data returned quickly and stay on top of their workloads and customers are better served”, said Narendra Kumar, Senior Vice President, MPS Limited.
“It is extremely important for every business to choose an effective backup and recovery solution for an uninterrupted business continuity, data protection & investment and dipping the total cost of ownership. Customers using traditional backup and recovery solutions face several challenges with reliability and scalability of these solutions as well as complicated interfaces,” said Kumar Mitra, General Manager - Data Backup & Recovery BU, APJ, Dell Software Group..
Dell’s AppAssure Backup is designed to address our customer’s pain points as it is a holistic and cost-effective solution that requires low maintenance.
MPS Limited achieved a number of benefits from the deployment of the Dell product. The solution reduced the recovery time objective (RTO) down 98 percent to one hour and recovery point objective (RPO) down 92 percent to two hours. Moreover, the IT team of MPS Limited was able to respond quickly, recovering lost data or old publications through Dell AppAssure within a few hours, said Kumar.
The new technology is driving growth and innovation across MPS Limited as it is helping them protect business-critical and older data of around 17 terabytes. After successfully testing and deploying the new backup and recovery solution at its Bangalore center, MPS Limited is now set to rollout the solution across other sites too, he summed up.
