Newgen Helps RCI Boost Content Collaboration

Software solution provider Newgen Software, has helped ‘Research Centre Imarat’ (RCI), a premier institution of India’s Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO), transform critical departmental procedures through its e-Gov solution suite. RCI is responsible for designing and developing world class, state-of-the-art technologies which would produce precise and reliable indigenous weapon systems to strengthen India’s Armed Forces.

The solution is built on Newgen Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Business Process Management (BPM) platforms and has enabled RCI to optimize critical departmental processes. RCI has succeeded in enhancing collaboration and process efficiency across functions, besides creating improved transparency, accountability and information access. It has been able to move away from manual processes and introduce a single unified platform which can be leveraged by its personnel. The system has created intelligent process flows with dynamic work routing based on pre-defined business rules. The solution has also enabled advanced reporting, and monitoring capabilities.

Some of the important processes automated at RCI are leave & LTC (Leave Travel concession) grants, LTC encashment, job completion certification, immovable property intimation, cancellation of leave/LTC, issuance of family planning allowance, leave issuance to female government servants on child adoption, change of permanent hometown, annual increment management, issuance of professional update allowance, permission for publishing papers and issuance  as well as amendment of variable increments.

According to Gartner, 15% of all ECM (Enterprise Content Management) being undertaken is Document Management, with BFSI, IT/ITeS, government and healthcare being the greatest adopters. The research and consultancy firm further adds that in future, the industry will witness more and more enterprises outsourcing their document management needs with more ans players playing a critical role in the market.
