The company says that it is in active pursuit of engagements in other states as well.
Global IT solutions provider NIIT Technologies said that it has been selected as the system integrator in three states to implement Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS).
These three states are Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
CCTNS is a comprehensive and integrated nationwide system designed to help the police investigate crime and detect criminals with a view to enhance security and improve service to citizens.
The cumulative value of these engagements exceeds Rs.300 crores, the company said in a statement.
“These wins are an endorsement of our leadership in providing IT solutions to the government. The company has a history of successful implementations with IT programs in Defence and Home Affairs,” said Arvind Thakur, Chief Executive Officer, NIIT Technologies.
Recently, NIIT Technologies commissioned the Rs. 228 crores Intranet Prahari project for Border Security Force. Execution of work in two of the states around the implementation of CCTNS is already underway.
The Union Government has announced results of 12 states thus far and NIIT Technologies has been selected as the system integrator in three of the states.
NIIT said that it is in active pursuit of engagements in other states as well.
CCTNS is an initiative under the e-governance project of Ministry of Home Affairs of Central government and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The initiative aims to connect 14,000 police stations and around 6,000 supervisory offices all over the country through a computer network system.
The government had sanctioned Rs. 2,000 crores for CCTNS in the eleventh five year plan.
