Government Encourages 'Incredible India' Tour On Mobile

The tourism industry is riding high on mobile and the recent testimony to this is the ‘Incredible India’ mobile application launched by the Ministry of Tourism in India. The mobile app will assist international and domestic tourists to access information about ministry recognized tourism service providers including various tour operators and transport operators, travel agents, regional level guides, classified hotels available in respective cities and in tourist centres.

According to the Ministry of Tourism website, details will be given through this application to the tourists on their mobile phones based on their current location. Tourists can also find out about the details for any other city they plan to travel to in future. In addition to this, the application will provide places of interest.

This mobile application has been developed as part of the initiative of the new government in taking important positive decisions, especially, affecting the general public since its taking over the charge. This new application developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will help the tourists in seeking services from government of India recognized service providers and receive quality and reliable services from them, according to the statement.

According to experts, smartphone- and tablet-based searches for hotel rooms and airline tickets are growing in the double- and triple-digits in major markets. “Travel companies have realized they need to invest a great deal more in mobile apps and cloud services, and try to out-innovate their competition on mobile,” Joost Schreve, TripAdvisor’s vice president of mobile, told Business Insider. He added that mobile is an absolutely critical piece of our strategy. Long term, it’s the center of everything we’re doing.

The new app demonstrates ministry of tourism’s commitment use of technology for service delivery. Incredible India Mobile Application (IMA) is available for the Android Phones on the Google Play store and for iphone this will available in App Store during coming week, it says.
