Office On The Move By Tata Indicom
In an effort to provide cutting-edge features of wireless mobility to its subscribers, Tata Indicom has announced that its subscribers will now be able to carry their offices anywhere in India, thanks to a suite of mobile productivity applications offered by QUALCOMM.
The applications, which consist of iPhonebook, iDatebook, iBackup and RemoMail have been developed for QUALCOMM’s BREW solution by U.S. based Remoba Inc., an application service provider of mobile productivity solutions.
“At Tata Indicom, we are constantly striving to make useful and compelling products and services available to our customers. Wireless mobility empowers people and Remoba’s Mobile Office Suite is a powerful tool that enables this,” said Pankaj Sethi, Vice President of content, Tata Teleservices. “By introducing the unique concept of a mobile office for the first time in India across a range of mid-end handsets, Tata Indicom is working to enhance productivity and connectivity across a large base of our customers.”
One of the features in the suite called iPhonebook links wireless phones to address book content in existing Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes or Palm applications, and also allows for the remote uploading or downloading of contacts between the phone and the office or home PC.
While iDatebook, another feature in the suite gives subscribers easy access to calendar content in existing Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes or Palm applications from the mobile phone while away from a PC, the iPhonebackup allows mobile subscribers to safeguard their contacts. The iDatebook also supports text message alerts for upcoming meetings and appointments, generated by desktop meeting reminders.
Also available in the suite is a unique email application called RemoMail which allows user’s mobile phone to access both personal and office e-mail accounts from anywhere and at anytime.
“Remoba’s wireless applications provide an enhanced mobile experience for professionals by maximizing their ability to work between their handset and their PC all while being constantly connected,” said Vishal Gupta, Director of product technologies for QUALCOMM India. “The BREW solution offers Remoba and the entire Indian developer community the resources and expertise to be globally competitive with mobile productivity applications, as well as offer a wide array of revenue opportunities.”
Besides the announcement of availability of the BREW Mobile Office applications, Tata Indicom also launched a stock portfolio application called BSE Portfolio Tracker, which allows consumers to monitor stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange and track their portfolio on the go.
