deploymentSEW Infrastructure (SEW), an infrastructure construction company has selected Oracle’s E-Business suite release 12 for monitoring Rs 13, 425 crore (US$ 3 bn) worth of projects and managing equipment worth Rs 671.25 crores (US$ 150 million). Deployed on a ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) private cloud model to offer access to vendors and sub-contractors, the system reduced materials costs by 3 percent to 4 percent, informed the construction company.

“The integrated system enables us forecast and allocate the right resources to projects, track day-to-day execution, monitor asset performance, and ensure end-to-end process visibility nationwide,” commented Siddhartha Meka, CIO, SEW Infrastructure.

The sub-contractors are enabled to eliminate capital investments by leveraing pre-configured and customized application suites ready to run their business.

“The Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 is providing SEW with a wide range of solutions to help manage costs, increase productivity and also enable the management to take timely business decisions,” remarked Samik Roy, head, growth applications, Oracle India.

The suite, according to Oracle, has reduced the time required for multiple accounting jobs such as balance sheet preparation, auditing, payments processing and maintenance of asset books. It features applications such as Oracle Financials, Oracle Procurement, Oracle Inventory Management, Oracle Human Resources, Oracle Payroll, among others. The intranet is based on Oracle WebCenter Suite and Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM).

SEW stated it manages insurance claims more efficiently by retrieving supporting documents such as policy proofs, invoices and incident images. The UCM also stores documentation required during project bidding in a secure manner, as opposed to saving and circulating confidential information through USB drives or e-mails.
