SafeNet, an information security provider, announced the availability of its Luna SA 5.0 hardware security module (HSM) for the PKI, cloud and virtual environments. The HSM is meant to offer enhanced performance and security as sensitive key material is embedded deeper into hardware leveraging SafeNet’s proprietary, tamper-proof ASIC cryptographic processor.
“SafeNet’s Luna SA 5.0 allows customers to meet more certification mandates with more performance and security than any other hardware security module on the market – and it does it now in virtualized environments,” remarked Humphrey Chan, VP, APAC, SafeNet.
The Luna SA 5.0 HSM features hardware-based key management within a highly partitioned platform, and offers the same level of security and control as an in-house deployment by securing virtualized and cloud applications, informed the company. It is expected to offer a high-availability and load-balancing mode that allows units to be grouped as a logical set.
The platform is expected to enable organizations to recognize lower operational costs in both traditional and virtualized environments through the remote management and administration functionality.
