Tejas Networks is set to create an Optical
Networking Center of Excellence (CoE) at the Jawaharlal
Nehru Technological
University, Kakinada. The CoE would provide, via an MOU,
technology training to faculty; participate in designing curriculum, provide
students with project opportunities and also a state-of-the-art optical
networking lab on campus.

The CoE would also help design and implement an information network connecting
the university s constituents and affiliates. The lab was formally inaugurated
by Pallam Raju, minister of state for defence, Govt. of India.

Sanjay Nayak, CEO & MD of Tejas
Networks said, Ours is an innovation driven company and we see ourselves
playing an important role in furthering the innovation potential of India
in the high technology product sector. We believe that a robust
industry-academia partnership is a sure way of producing the kind of talent
that will elevate India
to become a technology leader in the future. JNTUK, with its Industry Institute
interaction initiative has created the right eco-system for students to gain
practical knowledge along with the solid theoretical grounding in optical
networking technology.

The inauguration of the optical networking
lab is an important step in providing a holistic learning environment to
students by enabling them to understand the practical aspects of creating and
working with technology along with the theory. Tejas Networks, with their rich
experience in creating telecom products for the Indian and global markets will
bring in the right perspective to guide students in technology creation and
innovation, said Allam Appa Rao, vice-chancellor, JNTUK.
