Titan recently collaborated with long-time implementation partner - Enteg, to deploy a new point of sale (PoS) solution for its retail division.
“The PoS application is a flexible and robust retail management solution integrated with SAP Business One with precisely managed store operations and consolidated store. It is an efficient application and has an easy-to-use POS interface which is user friendly and enables quick customer service,” remarked C.S. Ramesh, GM (IT) of Titan Industries.
Titan required a PoS application to carry out customer facing transactions in the Retail Eye+ showrooms. Enteg offered to develop a PoS application built on Java platform. The customized solution is used to capture eye power details, which enables quick customer service. It also has an online/offline enabled application and enables quick response to changing market requirements with fast implementation of new capabilities.
Titan has been a long time user of SAP ERP solutions. It utilizes SAP Netweaver for its large format retail operations in stores like Shopper’s Stop, Reliance, etc. to manage its distribution. The company also developed its portal using Netweaver for knowledge management. About a year back, it had partnered with Enteg to create a customized lean retail solution for sales management. Another recent project was an IVR system based on SAP IS Retail, which was a Java-based application developed by Enteg.
Titan has recently expanded into a number of areas as it looks to position itself as a global lifestyle brand. It now operates three separate divisions - eyewear, watches and jewellery, with the systems all standardized on either Oracle or SAP. “Our jewellery department is based on Oracle, while the other two are on SAP,” informed Ramesh. “Before selecting any solution, we see if we can standardize the application.”
Apart from this, the company is also conducting pilots of a new BI platform. It is also testing added functionalities like unified loyalty and workflow management. “We carry out a number of loyalty services; most are outsourced while one is in-house. With the number of stores we are opening, we feel it makes sense that we consolidate these services for better management,” informed Ramesh.
Titan is also trying out the SaaS model in its engineering division to provide certain applications. Ramesh said that they would consider enterprise-wide adoption depending on the results from this initial test.
