Topsgrup is the first in the security industry to develop and implement a Web-based ERP that has significantly helped the company to monitor, control and respond effectively while raising the bar of quality of its services to its customers.

Speaking to CXOtoday, Aruniisha Sengupta, vice president, corporate communications, Topsgrup, said, “Every growing organization has to become systems and process driven after a while, especially for a company like ours which is on a threshold of a major expansion and consolidation drive.”

Apparently, streamlining of processes and saving on time were key concerns for a company that is solely dependent on manpower. Operating from 18 regions and 91 branches, the company wanted to maintain a track of the daily records of inventory, accounts, and employee personal details. Retrieval of this vital information within minutes too was a prerequisite for developing the customized ERP.

Deployment of the ERP has ensured faster turnaround times for clients and vendors. According to Sengupta, the company can now address client query within minutes. Moreover, since the interface of the ERP is highly user-friendly the company did not encounter many challenges in gaining user acceptance for the solution.

The ERP has been developed in such a way that even if an employee quits, the person who replaces can smoothly continue with the work without referring to piles of data, which inevitably used to cause delay. The software has also eliminated the problems faced when users were dependent on information that trickled in from multiple sources.

The centralized solution has been deployed across 800 users. The operating system at the server level is presently on Windows NT. The ERP has been built with VB6 and JSP technologies, as the frontend while the backend is Oracle 8i.

The company has invested Rs 34 lakh, which includes SRS, testing, debugging and support for the same. Around 20-25 dedicated software developers worked on this solution, which took one and a half years to develop, stated Sengupta.

Tospgroup is a total security solutions provider offering services in manned guarding, investigations, cash management, executive protection, event security, copyright protection, etc. A conglomerate of seven specialized companies and four dedicated divisions, the company employs more than 25,000 people.
