India Country Director

Twitter’s India Country Director Taranjeet Singh has stepped down from the company. Balaji Krish, Global Head of Revenue Operations and Strategy at Twitter will be the interim Country Lead, the company said in a statement.

Over the next month, Singh will ensure a smooth transition to Krish who will be coming from the US to be interim country lead while Twitter searches for Singh`s replacement in India, it added.

Announcing his exit, Singh tweeted, “Hello everyone, after 4 amazing years, I have decided to move on from @TwitterIndia – from being one of the first @Twitter employees in #India, to building up the sales team from the ground up, to leading our expansion and investments as the India Country Director #AmazingRide.”

Singh joined Twitter in January 2015 as Business Head and was heading sales and marketing support for Twitter’s advertisers in India. In 2017 he was elevated to the position of Country Director for Twitter India.

Under Singh’s leadership, Twitter has seen strong business performance, a diversified client base and many innovations for Twitter across the country.

Before joining Twitter, Singh was sales director, South Asia for BBC Advertising. Prior to the BBC, he held various positions at Outlook Publishing.

During his career, he saw the launch of “Twitter Lite”, a more accessible, faster and affordable way to get real-time information.

When it comes to Twitter`s alignment with the government, the micro-blogging platform is working with the government on real-time citizen engagement through “Twitter Seva”.

“Balaji has spent the past five years at Twitter building up his global function and has also previously worked for Google in India to engage with CMOs, brands and agencies,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement.

“We thank Taran for nearly four years of contributions and leadership to Twitter India. He built up our India sales team across the country and, most recently as our India country director, he led our cross-functional effort that has made India both one of our largest and fastest growing markets today,” the spokesperson added.

Singh added, “I’m proud to say that @TwitterIndia is in a strong position and will continue to grow stronger in the years to come. I want to thank all our partners, brands and agencies for their continued belief, trust and support in making my journey so incredible at Twitter #Grateful.”

Going forward, Singh has not mentioned his next endeavor so far.
