Uber To Double Headcount In India Across Tech Centers

Uber

Uber is all set to further strengthen its engineering presence in India and is looking to double its product and engineering headcount across tech centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Uber engineering in India currently has 500+ technologists across the two locations.

This initiative reinforces Uber engineering’s commitment to India as a key tech hub for Uber. In pursuit of top talent and innovation, Uber aims to hire full stack teams that include product managers, product designers, data scientists, user researchers, mobile, frontend and backend engineers, as well as machine learning/artificial intelligence experts.

“We see immense potential in India’s tech talent and have been expanding our India tech  presence since the start of this year. In 2018, our tech teams grew by 150% and we are focused on doubling down again in 2019. Uber India tech centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad are critical to Uber’s global mission of developing urban mobility solutions for everyone. Engineers are working on exciting areas of Customer Engagement, Rider access (next billion riders), Uber Eats, Maps, Marketplace and Data platforms,” said Apurva Dalal, Head of Engineering, Uber India.

Uber will continue hiring talent from top engineering universities in the country in addition to lateral hiring in the areas of data science, distributed systems, mobile, artificial intelligence and machine learning among others.

Uber began their journey of building end-to-end urban mobility products for the world from India almost two and a half years ago. With the goal of redefining urban commute, Uber Engineering India has been responsible for developing era-defining mobility innovations such as Uber Lite – a simplified, lighter and faster version of the flagship app. Engineers have been able to work and contribute to the complete lifecycle of the product, which includes design, research, development, operations, data science, and data mapping.
