IP Surveillance Helps Varun Beverages Curb Warehouse Theft
Varun Beverages Ltd, engaged in manufacturing, selling, bottling and distribution of beverages of Pepsi brand has recently deployed high quality IP surveillance services at its facilities in India. The company selected Vivotek as its technology partner for improved video and image quality and services which in turn helped them boost operational efficiency.
Varun Beverages, touted to be one of the largest franchisees of PepsiCo after the USA, the Pepsi bottling plant experienced a number of grave issues, despite being under analogue surveillance. Their issues included everything from theft to operational inefficiencies by workers. Helping them realize the shortcomings of analogue surveillance, Vivotek brought the plant at par with the evolving security landscape. Vivotek along with Network Technology altered analogue video surveillance solutions to IP surveillance solutions for improved video and image quality and enhanced Field of View (FOV).
Johnson Cherian, GM-IT Infrastructure, Varun Beverages Ltd said, “We were very concerned about the issues that we were dealing with; be it security, operational or employee disputes. Vivotek’s IP surveillance system worked with us step by step to not only provide the robust security solution we were looking for, but also helped us navigate through all our key plant requirements.”
Despite their existing security surveillance arrangements, Varun Beverages, suffered a number of thefts. Adding to their distress was the poor image quality and limited coverage area of their existing analogue surveillance solutions. “Their daily operations suffered, owing to such drawbacks. After having analyzed the situation; along with Network Technology, we suggested altering their analogue surveillance solution to IP surveillance solution. We gave them complete end to end solution from general surveillance to pin point surveillance at various check points in the plants. The deployment of Vivotek solutions transformed the operational scenario into a more productive and secured one. They are absolutely satisfied by the video and image quality in their current security surveillance system,” Sanjeev Gulati, Country Manager – India & SAARC, Vivotek explained.
Cherian believes that the IP surveillance system has significantly improved the control over the entire production process and administrative areas of all our production facilities. “The solution enables an efficient and centralized security through which the manager can monitor remotely anytime and anywhere promptly and effectively. Vivotek has been really helpful during the planning stage and in providing technical support, which exceeded our expectations; we’re looking forward to providing them with more as their business expands,” he commented.
Adding to the technical insights; the software used to operate the IP surveillance solution is VIVOTEK VAST, which is connected to various camera models, including 5-megapixel 360 degree surround view fisheye camera FE8180, robust Full-HD speed dome camera SD8363E, 3-megapixel outdoor ready 180 degree view fisheye camera CC8370-HV, 2-megapixel 15 meters IR illuminator fixed dome camera FD8169, and two bullet type cameras IB8369 and IB8367. Vivotek and its associate partner also segregated the camera for multiple site types on the basis of lens types such as fixed lens camera; vary-focal lens camera and size of the lenses.
Post the deployment of IP surveillance Varun Beverages managed to prevented thefts in the warehouses and plants. The workers and operation staff being well aware of the enhanced security surveillance in the vicinity now, stick to the company protocols and live up to the company standards, in terms of hygiene and effective and efficient operations, said Cherian.
