VSNL Launches Tata Indicom's Web Conferencing

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has unveiled the Tata Indicom Web Conferencing Service. Aimed at the Indian enterprise and SMB segment, The TI Web Conferences Service will allow subscribers to organize online conferences, irrespective of attendees location. All the conference group members need is a PC with a 64 KBPS and above internet connection.

Based on Micrsoft Office Live Meeting Platform, the TI Web Conferencing Service will be pitched as a financially viable alternative to business travel and one that will reduce infrastructure and set up requirements in order to have collaborative meeting in real time for the information workers.

Speaking at the launch conference today, Kishore A. Chaukar, Director, VSNL said, “We are on the verge of a very significant development. With the web conference service we are delivering the next generation of real time communication to enterprises in India. This will enable our customers to have better team collaboration while cutting down the travel and other infrastructure costs that come with arranging a team meeting.”

The TI Web Conferencing is a hosted software solution that minimizes the infrastructure and set up requirements and allows exchange of information regardless of the location. Through applications such as Polls, Email integration, Q&A among others users can coordinate and exchange data such as files, presentations and other documents instantly.

Speaking to CXOtoday, Pradip J. Nath, VP and National sales head, enterprise business unit, Tata Indicom said, ” With this offering we are strengthening our portfolio of existing service offerings. The TI Web Conferencing Service will not only facilitate better communication but will also increase the productivity of an organization while giving it the competitive advantage and increased ROI.”

The Service will be available in a number of flexible payment plan options according to the license, usage and the budget of the customers. For instance, through Named User License plan users can avail of room for 15 attendees, including the host. Monthly Minute License is another plan, one which allows users to pay according to per usage. Besides these, Room License which can be used to avail an ‘always on’ meeting room and Shared Seat License, an option used to accommodate any last minute additional attendees in the meeting are also available.

In addition to the launch of the service, Microsoft and VSNL also announced a strategic alliance to address the emerging communication needs of the market. Under the alliance, both the companies will put to use their resources and expertise in their respective areas to create solutions and services targeted at these segments.
