The week that passed by was not an ordinary one. As many around the world were preparing for the Mother’s Day weekend, the WannaCry ransomware attack hit over 70,000 organizations in nearly 100 countries in just one day. While homegrown ecommerce marketplace Flipkart kicked off its 10th-anniversary celebrations by bringing in what’s claimed to be the biggest sales of the year – The Big 10 sale. Around the same time, global retail giant Amazon has also announced its ‘Amazon Great Indian Sale.’ The real gainers were the customers, who got the best deals and discounts online - something they always look forward to.

While globally, the ransomware hits over 2 lakh computers, India was one of the worst hit nations by WannaCry as more than 40,000 computers were affected. However, the threat is far from over.
