ZyXeL Launches VDSL2 Switch
ZyXEL Communications, has announced availability of its new IP-based Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT)-based VDSL2 (Very High Bit Digital Subscriber Line) solution: VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 VDSL2 switch with a P-872H/P-870MH VDSL2 modem.
The new VDSL2 solution will have various features to optimize broadband performance and quality of service; and will offer service providers with carrier grade solutions that will offer quality triple play services.
The ZyXEL VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 is a 16-port/24-port, 1.5U VDSL2 Switch, which provides a maximum of 100Mbps download and also a 50Mbps upload bandwidth.
ZyXEL added that ample bandwidth will not only enable next-generation online media services, but will also allow ISPs state-of-the-art video, voice, and data integration services via regular phone lines.
Austin Huang, Market Development Manager, ZyXEL Communications Corporation, Taiwan, says, “The ZyXEL VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44, a DMT (Discrete Multi-Tone)-based VDSL2 solution that allows dynamic rate change depending on current line condition, offers excellent performance even over noisy lines.”
“This eliminates the need for manual and time-consuming rate adjustments to suit the changing network noise conditions. Both IEEE’s 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Task Force and T1E1.4 Working Group selected DMT as its worldwide VDSL line-coding standard”, added Huang.
The company added that this would enable IGMP snooping on the VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 to improving service quality for IP multicasting applications.
This will prevent unnecessary forwarding of multicast traffic for all subscribers, and optimize bandwidth utilization for bandwidth-consuming applications like video streaming.
The Multicast VLAN registration (MVR) feature will allow the VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 to forward the same video streams to devices in specific VLANs, claimed the company. Through this technology, duplicate video streams can be reduced significantly making the VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 a first choice in a MoD environment.
The VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44’s Rate Limiting feature will allow service providers to limit bandwidth on subscriber ports in steps of 64Kbps. According to ZyXEL, the VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 has a set of configuration and management tools that streamlines the administrator’s management effort.
The Web-based management interface will have an easy-to-use platform, independent management, and configuration options. The VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 will support SNMP and MIBs, both of which can be managed via standard-based management software. In addition to remote management capabilities, a console port is also available for local management.
ZyXEL VES-1616F-44 and VES-1624F-44 is available at a price range starting from Rs.69,900 onwards with taxes extra as applicable through ZyXEL’s global sales network, from the company and through partnered service providers.
