EMC Helps Heritage Food Revamp IT Infrastructure

IT Infrastructure

EMC has helped Heritage Foods,  one of the largest private sector dairy enterprises in Southern India, restructure its IT infrastructure. The Hyderabad-based retailer that sells its food and grocery products under the brand “Heritage Fresh” said it has significantly reduced its operational costs (Opex) through this deployment.

Heritage Foods has 110 retail outlets at present, was able to reduce the project time and rapidly achieve the project target. The retailer’s investment in EMC technology solutions will enable them to expand its retail presence to 150, and expand its presence in other parts of India in 2016.

EMC India claims that Heritage Foods’ previous IT platform lacked the flexibility needed to release new services, resulting into delayed application delivery. On top of this, the cost involved in scaling up the platform to match the performance requirements was phenomenal.

“To ensure efficient customer service, smooth internal operation and increase the overall productivity of the company, it is crucial to upgrade the IT infrastructure,” said Srikant Pachigolla of Heritage Foods in a statement.

EMC said VSPEX has helped Heritage Foods eliminate the high licensing costs associated with the earlier servers and reduce time and effort in operations management, leading to significant cut in TCO. Due to investment in virtualization, VSPEX has improved the utilization of the IT infrastructure by distributing the infrastructure as per the usage requirements.

Heritage Foods benefited from the EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure including EMC VNX5200 unified storage, EMC Avamar deduplication backup software, EMC RecoverPoint data protection and recovery tool, VMware vSphere virtualization, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) servers, and Cisco switches.

Heritage Foods has made investment in EMC Avamar which uses deduplication to identify unique changed data on a daily basis and stores it as a daily backup in few minutes to streamline backup administration.

In addition, Heritage has implemented a FLASH 1st strategy by combining VNX, FAST Cache, and a combination of solid-state and SAS drives. VNX, along with FAST Cache, can attain the performance benchmark of as high as 15,000 IOPS assisting Heritage to easily manage I/O extensive workloads.

Vivek Mehrotra, director, Enterprise Sales at EMC, said, “EMC VSPEX provides scalable, cloud-based storage with the organization’s choice, enabling limitless network-attached storage, offsite backup and disaster recovery, and the ability to support both Block and File simply.”
