IIM Bangalore hosts International Symposium on ‘Digital Innovations, Financial Inclusion, and Sustainability’ on 3rd & 4th November
Exciting case competitions, speaker sessions and expert panels featuring industry leaders and world-class academicians are highlights of the two-day symposium
As part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, IIM Bangalore is organizing a two-day international symposium, on 3rd and 4th November 2023, focusing on issues of inclusivity, digitalisation and financial innovations in India. Dr G Shainesh, Professor of Marketing at IIMB, is the Symposium Chair.
The symposium will be inaugurated on 3rd November at 9 am by IIMB Director Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan and Professor N S Vishwanathan, Non-Executive Chairperson, Axis Bank and Former Deputy Governor, RBI.
The two-day symposium features 5 expert panels, 2 plenary addresses and a ‘leaderspeak’ session by leading lights from the banking and financial services sector in India and abroad. There are case competitions for students and start-ups. The symposium will come to a close on 4th November with an awards function.
On 3rd November, the inaugural address will be followed by a panel on ‘Digitalisation and Financial Inclusion – Experiences & Learnings’ featuring Professor G Shainesh, Chairperson, Initiatives on Consumer Insights, IIMB; Rahul Shukla, Group Head, Commercial & Rural Banking – HDFC Bank; and Shantanu Rege, MD & CEO, Mahindra Rural Housing Finance.
The ‘Leaderspeak’ on India’s Fintech Revolution will be delivered by Rajesh Bansal, CEO, RBI Innovation Hub.
The panel on ‘Innovations & Business Models – Accessible & Affordable Financial Services’ will feature Prof S. Sadagopan, Founding Director, IIIT Bangalore; Prof. Alnoor Bhimani, Director, South Asia Centre, London School of Economics; Shriya Sethi, Director, Centre for Social Impact, McKinsey; and Hiren Doshi, General Manager, Satsure.
In the plenary session, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, Founder and CEO, Bandhan Bank, will be in conversation with Dr Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Professor of Finance at IIM Bangalore, on ‘Financial Inclusion, Empowerment & Sustainable Livelihood Creation’.
On 4th November, Amit Nanda, Director Selling Partner Services, Amazon, will speak on ‘Inclusive Growth through Digital Transformation’.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘Fintech – Leveraging Digital for Scaling Up Financial Inclusion’, featuring Dr. Shirish Srivastava, GS1 France Chair Professor, HEC Paris; Debajyoti Ray Chaudhuri, MD & CEO, NeSL; Ganesh Narayanan, CEO, Credit Access Grameen; and Bhavdeep Bhatt, Head, Retail Sales, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC.
Koshy Thampy, MD & CEO, ONDC, will deliver his plenary address on ‘Democratizing Digital Commerce’.
An expert panel including Professor MS Sriram, from the Centre for Public Policy at IIMB; Dr. V Anbumozhi, ERIA, Jakarta, Indonesia; Malladi Chandra Mohan, Global Head, Financial Inclusion, TCS; Gaurav Malhotra, Director & Head, Financial Services Equity, British International Investment; will discuss ‘Collaborating for Sustainable Development – Financial Institutions, Governance & New Ventures’.
In the final panel of the symposium, Padmanabhan Raghavan, Co-Founder and CEO, Multipl; Timmana Gowda, Founder CEO, WhatsLoan; Kavin KK, Head, IDFC First Startup Banking; and Nitthin Nair, CEO MedPipper; will discuss ‘Digital Tech for Driving Adoption of Financial Products’.
Professor V N Rajesh, KREA University, and Mr. S Parthasarathy, Chief Programmes Officer, IIMB Executive Education, will be part of the valedictory and awards function.
