JLL Appoints George Thomas as Global Chief Information Officer
Global property consultant Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has appointed George Thomas as Global Chief Information Officer. He is the latest addition to a long line of Indian-origin CIOs who are now leading on the enterprise tech-stage globally.
George, an Indian American technology executive, has total experience of over two decades across corporations such as General Electric, HSBC and JLL, where he held global leadership roles based in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Based in Singapore, he is responsible for the development and implementation of JLL’s technology, data and information management strategy that is integral to the firm’s digital transformation charter, cyber and operations covering JLL’s businesses in over 80 countries with a global workforce of more than 92,000.
He is part of the JLLT Executive Leadership Team led by co-CEO’s Mihir Shah and Yishai Lerner. His expertise in technology, data management, data science and analytics has helped revolutionize JLL’s digital impact.
Born in Trivandrum, Kerala, George completed his bachelor’s degree in engineering from India and moved to the United States to complete a masters’ degree in Industrial Engineering – Operations Research from the University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA and Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in California.
He began his professional career at General Electric in the US, serving as a data and systems analyst in the six-sigma team that supported GE’s consumer products line of business.
The next phase of his career took him to Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation where he held key domestic and international executive positons for over 12 years, serving as their Chief Data Officer, Global Head of Customer Intelligence, Head of Global Analytics and Head of Product Management across major capitals like Hong Kong, California and New York.
Technology aside, George’s other big passion is tennis, which he first picked up when he was 6 years old. He turned pro at 16, and continued playing professionally for the next several years before higher education got the better of him. He continues to squeeze in a game at least once a week.
