With the transformed infrastructure, developers are now able to increase their focus on innovation, driving better customer experience

About the Client – in brief

Quickwork is a no-code, real-time, enterprise iPaaS with 1,500+ pre-integrated apps to build enterprise and consumer workflows, publish APIs, and manage conversations. The platform is designed to make automation easy, allowing teams of all sizes to build simple or complex workflows quickly. It combines a drag-and-drop user interface with the ability to make instant changes to live workflows, within a secure and compliant environment.

It provides an all-in-one platform with the tools and services required to build powerful and scalable integrations, serverless APIs, conversational experiences, and more! The platform supports all types of events used in automated workflows, such as real-time, polling, scheduled, and manual. This unique capability enables the building of a wide range of workflows across industry verticals.

With users in 145 countries, Quickwork is becoming the go-to iPaaS for enterprises looking for a reliable and scalable platform to build automated workflows quickly.

Business needs and challenges faced by the Client

The client wanted to provide a solution to customers which helped to make automation easy, affordable, accessible, and compliant. Quickwork’s aim was to trigger the workflow in real time as soon as the event occurs in the source application systems. This event type is suitable for conversational, IoT, financial, and other use cases that require an instantaneous response.  With millions of such events occurring, the Client was in need of an infrastructure to support that.

The most appropriate solution to suit the need

Techpartner understood the requirement of the client and worked towards addressing it by transforming the IT infrastructure. The Techpartner team of experts had several discovery sessions with Quickwork’s Management Team and the Technology Heads to gain a good understanding of the project requirement.  Together, they configured a plan and finalized the architecture that catered well to the requirement.

AWS services were leveraged and the open-source tools were utilized to achieve the desired output.

During the deployment of automation, the CI (continuous integration) process was managed using Jenkins.  An image was pulled from the docker repository and customized with application code. It was then pushed to Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR).  In the CD (continuous delivery) process, the image was pulled from Amazon ECR and applied in the respective Kubernetes namespace.

The architecture consisted of setting up auto-scaling node groups using a mix of on-demand and spot instances for better performance, scalability, and cost optimization.

Kubernetes-based Event Driven Autoscaler or KEDA was used, where scaling of any container in Kubernetes could be driven based on the number of events needed to be processed.

KEDA, which is a lightweight component can be added to any Kubernetes cluster and be used to autoscale a variety of workloads, from traditional deployments to serverless functions.  It can autoscale applications based on demand as well as reduce the amount of process time needed to handle incidents. The cloud platform is made more reliable and stable to serve business services seamlessly.

Key benefits delivered by the Solution

  • Easy Automation: Automation reduced the manual deployment time by 90% giving free hand to developers to concentrate on innovation.
  • Scalable Architecture: With the scalable architecture Quickwork was able to serve the users with improved response time which in turn helped in acquiring more users. Scalable EKS architecture along with KEDA enabled the client to launch more than 2 million pods on the EKS cluster to execute the customer workflows in a day without any hiccups.
  • Improved Performance: As the application and its deployment are modular, the whole CI/CD process became easy and efficient.
  • Simpler Autoscaling: Every workload in the Kubernetes cluster can now be scaled as per the need.
  • Vendor Agnostic: The advanced platform provides support for triggers across a variety of cloud providers and products.
  • Optimized resource management: Operating with optimal resource utilization and cloud spending was achieved.
