Aakanksha Bhargava- Taking the relocation industry by Storm

India has a huge, competitive, and unregulated relocation industry. Moving is a universal phenomena, and whenever people decide to relocate, they look forward to getting in touch with licenced, experienced, and qualified packers and movers to avoid scams and poor services.

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Aakanksha Bhargava, CEO, PM Relocations Pvt. Ltd to get insights into the relocation industry and what future it holds.

  1. With what mission and objectives, the company was set up? In short, tell us about your journey since the inception of the company.

Ans- Over the years, the term “Relocation” has undergone a major change in order to be recognised in the right sense. Earlier, moving was considered a task that could be performed by anybody and everybody. People would get the help from a few men living in the neighbourhood and hire a truck to make the move happen. The “human touch”, the ability to reckon other’s goods as their own and deliver the moving services in the most seamless and safe manner, wasn’t paid attention to.

Thus, the idea behind bringing about a change and revolutionising the whole unorganised process into an organised one, eventually led to the inception of PMR. The organisation was founded in the year 1986 with the name “PM Packers” by two best friends, Rajeev Bhargava and Rajiv Sharma. The Company began with the intent to provide a seamless moving experience to anybody wishing to move anywhere “around the globe, across the street”. The firm was rebranded in 2007 as “PM Relocations Pvt. Ltd.” with an insight to bring a more innovative approach into making the moving experiences of the people stress-free.

Not many people could recognise this industry and its importance initially. Even till date, the Packing & Moving sector is included under the Logistics & Supply Chain industry. Our approach towards building this sustainable brand is intrinsically driven with a motive to change this scenario and make people realise exactly why they need a professional moving company to move their valuable goods and how it could serve their needs like no other.

Ever since the inception of the company, we have been able to meet the diverse needs of the people. We have been recognised for our quality-driven and value-centric approach. In a progressive span of 36 years, we have moved more than 3 lac families, with our services across 150 countries, and 98% satisfied customers. Furthermore, we have also expanded to a team of 600+ moving professionals that have the knack for delivering the best ingrained in themselves.

2. How do you see the company and the industry in the future ahead?

Ans- PM Relocations is known for doubling its revenue with each year ever since the global pandemic struck us. During the second wave of COVID-19, PMR relocated over 5000 families within India, 8000 families overseas and moved over 1,00,000 laptops and desktops to ensure business continuity. It touched the milestone of INR 100-crore revenue which is a golden achievement in the history of the company. Moving ahead, we are aiming to achieve the INR 200-crore mark in terms of revenue by the end of this financial year.

Also, visualising the growth of our company as well as the industry in times to come, we believe that through our marketing strategies, we’d be able to bring a difference and individual recognition to the Packing & Moving Sector as a whole. Also, following the pattern from the last few years, we are looking to excel at various milestones through our unwavering zeal and intent that focuses upon making the moving experiences of people around the world as seamless and happy as possible. We would be bringing a more innovative and systematic approach to life. This will be done through the introduction of our very own PMR mobile application through which the customers could track their precious goods as we move them, and our ERP System which would enable our people to regulate the moves in a more efficient manner and even reduce the paperwork at the workplace.

3. The Challenge and Future of the Relocations industry across the globe?

Ans- One of the major challenges expected to be faced by the Relocation industry as well as humanity today is “sustainability”, I believe. There had been numerous challenges regarding the same in the past few years as well. The industry’s existence has been questioned, especially in the Indian context. There was always a major threat that a significant halt could be caused any time which posed  a major threat to all businesses.

However, the Moving sector has proved itself by sustaining through such testing times that we are able to stay up and onwards through everything. Also, the pandemic has allowed the Relocation sector to prove itself by expanding and enabling every service the clients and customers require or could require in the future.

4. How can organizations be ready to avoid breakage when shifting internationally?

Ans- The best method in which an organisation could avoid breakage while shifting internationally is through packing the goods and equipment in the most efficient manner. Talking from experience, when the packers make use of appropriate packing materials such as the corrugated sheet, bubble wraps, white paper, stretch film, wooden packing, packing blankets, the right cushioning and more, the goods stay as secure and robust as possible.

As a global leading packing & moving company based out of India, we practise every method that facilitates the packing of equipment in the most effective way. Our packed goods, as the legacy has marked, are packed in a way that they’re ready to fight the brunt and deliver unharmed, no matter how long the journey is. Therefore, I believe it is more about smart work and the right tactics which you must employ on a regular basis in order to provide such seamless and secure packing services that also ensure the goods’ safety while it is in transit, both domestic or international.

5. How do PM Relocations play an important role in the quality service offering to remove the stress from their customers’ moving experiences?

Ans- Our leadership values, intent and core ethics have always been the major reason to help us stay upright. With the same approach, we tend to bring out the best in what we have to offer to our clients & customers. Recognised with multiple international accreditations and awards, we have been known for sustaining as a brand that is intrinsically driven by quality and aims to deliver the best possible services suited for every customer’s needs.
