Driving Innovation in the Auto Industry: The Role of Startups like Revamp Moto

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Mr. Pritesh Mahajan, Co-Founder and CEO of Revamp Moto

  1. Please give a brief about Revamp Moto and its products.

Revamp Moto is an EV company based in Nashik that focuses on building sustainable products for the future. Their mission is to empower society by taking a collective responsibility towards building a better world. They believe that the automobile industry needs a change in the way products are designed, with a focus on adapting to people’s varying requirements rather than people adapting to vehicles.

In line with their vision, Revamp Moto has launched two models in 2021. The low-speed RM Buddie 25 is for daily transportation and shared mobility, and doesn’t require a license or registration in India. The high-speed RM Mitra has a compact battery pack and a modular utility platform with swappable attachments, making it versatile and practical for various industries.  Taking our vision ahead, at Revamp Moto, we are consistently working towards bridging the gap between EVs and sustainable energy sources and a strong mission of building to adapt to people’s needs.

  1. How do you think technology has played a key role in revolutionizing the auto industry?

Technology has definitely eased out the process of acquiring the resources required to drive innovation and plays a significant role in revolutionizing the auto industry in many ways. Electric Vehicles are one such product that has come into place thanks to the technological advancements in the world. This shift was only possible because of advancements in battery technology, which has made it possible to store and deliver large amounts of energy efficiently. Furthermore, the development of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) has led to the creation of self-driving cars, which have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about transportation. Today, a lot of the contemporary developments in sustainable transportation are powered by technologies like solar power, batteries, high-end and efficient manufacturing and assembly units etc.

  1. How is Revamp Moto different from other EV players, technological play here?

At Revamp Moto we believe that automobiles should be designed to personalise the needs of the target audience. For many years, we have seen automobile companies designing vehicles as per their own standards and people adapting to that. The Revamp Moto Electric bikes are hence meticulously put together to cater to the common person’s day-to-day needs and enable them to work faster and safer.

  1. What is Revamp Moto’s plan for upgrading its product line and tech in the future?

We want to bring in many new innovations and our team is constantly working on doing the R&D for the same. We strongly believe that the complete start-to-end requirements in manufacturing EVs should be done in India. Today Revamp Moto carries out all manufacturing in India, with in-house made battery packs that power the vehicle. Only the cells are imported currently, however Revamp plans to soon adapt to Made in India cells. Moving forward, we also plan to enter into the 3-wheeler and 4-wheeler market based on the same modular concept.

  1. How do you think the Indian EV industry can compete with its foreign counterparts?

There is a lot of potential in the Indian EV Market and we are growing at a very rapid pace. Definitely, there are many obstacles that stand in front of us but we are optimistic that it would not take a long time for the industry, governments and consumers at large to together help the EV sector grow. With all that support and constant innovation, we think India would surely be a leading player in the global EV narrative.
