Interviews

Every second electronic device you see every day, ADI is manufacturing the IC for the same

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Mr. TS Shankar, Sales Director, Analog Devices, at Analog Devices India

How ADI is helping India’s aim of becoming a central hub for semiconductor components for the world?

India is the second largest market in the world for semiconductor components across several industries and applications from the perspective of scale and growing demand. Industries such as Intelligent Buildings, Healthcare, Automobile, Environmental, Aerospace & Defence, Communications &Energy, and Industrial Automation Technology across the globe have been using our 5G semiconductor offerings in different industries such as Advanced Linear Products, High-Speed Converters, Precision Converters, High-Speed Networking, Power Management, Processor and Microcontrollers, Audio and Video products, Semiconductor Automatic Test Equipment Solution and a vast range of semiconductor equipment components.

With that, we at Analog Devices India aim to extend our offerings to India to nourish India’s aim of becoming a central hub for semiconductor components for the world by 2030.

  • Prediction: By when India can see a stabilized supply in 5G chipsets

The evolution of make-in-India smartphones, tablets, PCs, connected cars, and industrial robotics to private networks embedded with highly capable AI-driven 5G endpoints, is expected to flood the demand for 5G chipsets in India. To meet the exceptional demand for 5G chipsets, big domestic companies in India (majorly Reliance Jio and Airtel) is building the 5G network stacks with the help of different global chip design companies. With the support of companies like us, who design, manufacture, and market a broad portfolio of high-performance integrated chipsets and semiconductors across industries, India will stabilize the supply-chain of 5G chip sets in the coming two years.

  • Brief on ADI’s breakthrough innovation across industries such as – aerospace and defence, automotive, communications, consumer, energy, healthcare, industrial automation, instrumentation, intelligent building, power, and precision

We at Analog Devices have a full stack of innovative technology products and solutions comprise of 3D Time of Light (ToF), 5G, A-B Audio Bus, Cyber Security, GaN (Gallium Nitride), IoT, LIDAR, Precision technology, Radar Systems, RadioVerse, RF solutions, Sensor interfaces, SmartMesh across the industries.

With our innovative technology and system expertise, we are helping shape the future of healthcare. Currently, we are innovating rapid disease detection technology that can identify and prevent the spread of disease beyond patient zero.

We are poised to play an important role in harnessing 5G. Not only we have contributed to communications advancement for 2G, 3G, and 4G, we enabled every major field test of 5G and created the leading technology to make 5G a reality.

To accelerate the development of future-proof industrial automation, we simplify design with complete system-level solutions for reusable platforms, algorithms to extract new insights and proven reference designs for fast prototyping and customization.

Our battery management systems are helping bring renewable energy to areas without electricity. Energy frids need to evolve by getting more resilient to physical and cyber threats. Our solution mSure® technology helps electricity utilities to detect more tamper conditions, extend meter life, and reduce operating expenses. Further, utilities can protect revenue better, manage field resources more effectively, reduce equipment costs, and improve customer service.

  • ADI’s R&D centre in India – innovations in the pipeline by leveraging Indian government technology

Analog Devices India’s headquarters in Bengaluru is among the top three global R&D centers of the company, it has made significant contributions across the company’s product line that includes digital signal processors (DSP), complex system on chip (SoC), analog to digital (ADC) and digital to analog (DAC) precision converters, video processing, ultra-low power microcontrollers, high-speed converters, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), software tools and algorithms. By leveraging Indian infrastructure and technologies, we aim to advance our 5G product and solution portfolio for the global automotive, industrial, healthcare, consumer, Internet of Things (IoT), security, communications, and energy markets.

  • How is ADI regenerating the planet and improving the quality of life with technology and people?
