Nanoclean is on the path of providing novel quality air solutions

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Mr. Prateek Sharma, Founder and CEO of Nanoclean Global

  • About the brand, Nanoclean

At Nanoclean, we have developed one of its kind air filtration technology based on nanotechnology which can filter particulate matter in the air. The technology is developed in labs of IIT Delhi and we hold exclusive commercial rights for the same. We have been awarded with the Startup National Award conferred by Hon’ble President of India for the innovation.

  • How it is helping the consumers to breathe quality air

Our nanofiber technology based products provide solutions for both indoor and outdoor air pollution. Our product Naso95 (World’s smallest wearable air purifier) sticks to a user’s nasal orifice and prevents the entry of air pollutants including bacteria, viruses, pollens etc. Our other products like Nanoclean AC filters (Turn your AC into an Air Purifier) and Nanoclean Pollution Net (Let Your Homes Breathe) brings indoor air pollution into permissible ranges.

  • Elaborate about your business model and USP

We work mainly through our Channel Partners and Distributors model i.e B2B2C model. We also generate significant business through our export orders. Our channel partners in various countries enable us to make an impact worldwide. In India, we also do D2C through our website www.nanoclean.store and e-commerce platforms like Amazon.

Our USP is the uniqueness of our technology which provides very negligible pressure drop or breathing resistance (in case of Naso95). Furthermore, the Cigibud product is going to be the gamechanger and has been built with extensive market research. This is first of its kind product in the world market which helps smoking cessation without shifting a user onto nicotine gums and patches.

  • You recently went to Shark Tank India. Tell us about your experience there and how it went.

The feeling of being featured in India’s biggest startup show Shark Tank India is fabulous. The experience of presenting our business in front of the established entrepreneurs (Sharks) and audience across the country was extraordinary.

I have got some key learnings and takeaways from each of the Sharks. Like-

With Piyush Bansal – It was an incredible experience explaining the novelty of our nanofiber technology. He liked the technology and suggested focusing on B2B business with it.

With Anupam Mittal- The discussion on the topic of air pollution was my favourite part. It was great to see him apply Naso95 correctly in one go without any inconvenience. His feedback of initial breathing resistance but comfortable afterwards didn’t make it to the final cut before going on air. But it is what it is now. I do wish that our paths coincide again. I am sure he will like the refined version of Cigibud even better. The boxes of TAM & Timing are checked.

With Amit Jain –  Truly believe in his hypothesis. Usability needs some learning from the consumer side. Currently, it is like a contact lens. We get the application right after 2-3 trials. But using a mirror is always recommended.

With Namita Thapar – Thankful that she noticed the National Award conferred by Hon’ble President of India and extended the invite to meet at Emcure. Looking forward to visiting soon. Surely  our nanofiber technology based filters will be useful for various applications at Emcure.

With Aman Gupta – Amongst all the Sharks, I had the least interaction with him. He came forward to see the products but I showcased the demo of our technology. I didn’t improvise there and followed what I was told backstage. I missed the Boat.

The conclusion was I didn’t get the deal but got the learning for a lifetime.

  • Your future plans for the brand, are planning to expand your business

Cigibud is in the market and receiving great traction and feedback from consumers. I believe this is the product which will take us to the next level. Also, this is the first product with our technology that will be relevant in all the seasons. We look forward to appointing more and more distribution partners to widen our reach.

  • Talking about Nanotechnology, what do you think is the scope of this technology in India

It has a worldwide potential. Do we know what is the biggest reason for oceanic pollution? It is the littering of cigarette butts. We vision to upgrade our nanofiber technology to an extent where it can be used in manufacturing of bio-safe cigarette butts. Many giant companies are already working in this direction globally.

  • What would you like to suggest to people planning to start a business?

I think backing your innovation or product with a thorough market research is the key. Do not skip this very essential step.
