Interviews

With the development of new technologies and the transformation of workplaces, digital e-learning is assisting businesses in maintaining a competitive advantage.

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Mr. Rohit Kumar, Founder & CEO, Chapter Apps.

– How to keep your workforce at pace with the new hybrid work schedule?

The broader question is how should companies and employees manage themselves in this new hybrid workplace.   The simple challenges for a manager are to know and keep track of when different employees will be in the office and who will be remote.  Getting team alignment on priorities and deliverables requires face to face discussions to make faster progress.    Organizations that succeed will focus on effective management and communication norms for what may end up being a primarily remote team.  While technology can help, how to use the tools correctly can make a huge difference.

The organizations that prioritize best practices in management and managerial effectiveness in the hybrid workplace will see the best results.

– How and why the traditional learning system in India needs reinvention?

The traditional education system in India has been based on rote learning and examinations that test on the basis of multiple choice questions.  Every employee in the workplace comes with this expectation as the method of learning.

Yet the most effective performers are those who combine soft skills, product/domain knowledge and ability to work in teams.  While at the management level, these aspects are covered in various classroom based learning interventions, the HR and Training teams are embracing the blended model of learning.  Once the focus is given on holistic development for all employees on even one course in each of these areas, this will do wonders for the performance of the organization.

– How eLearning is helping companies maintain a competitive edge with the changing technologies?

As recently as three years ago, the primary courses used by companies for Elearning were compliance courses.  The pandemic forced everyone to come up with innovative ways to engage and train employees. The organizations that managed to grow and improve performance, retain employees and reduce attrition were the ones who were able to adapt to the new model.

Rollout of new methods of working, new productivity applications and how to use them effectively all require communication.  E Learning can help with this.  The ability to provide all information in the palm of your hand also increases productivity – when an employee can find what they are looking for quickly, they deliver better results.

Most importantly, increasing productivity of the field force is very important.  This has direct impact on the top line and the bottomline.  And better financial performance is what every business works towards!

– What solutions Chapter Apps provide to bridge the gap?

Chapter Apps provides a comprehensive learning and training solution for Large and Medium enterprises.  The suite has been designed for Classroom/Blended Learning and for self paced online learning.

The difference in the solution compared to other platforms has been to keep a single window for both the learners and the instructors/administrators.  The focus has been to simplify the user experience so that a learner can see the details of their classroom training, read the course material as well as answer the feedback survey, all in one application.

For the administrator, the key aspect is flexibility of setting up different training programs with separate pedagogical aspects especially in terms of programs that require reading, coaching, and follow-on submissions as part of a comprehensive training program.

In order to make all this work, we provide a flexible approach to help build out a system for managing the entire training lifecycle for organizations.  Coupled with best in class support, we fulfill all the needs of our customers for successful implementation of learning programs.

– What is the future of eLearning?

eLearning is here to stay! Rapid adoption of digital learning has for the first time led to 100% of coverage across organizations for many use cases across organizations has helped drive the importance of Digital Programs as part of the overall Learning and Development budget.

Over the next three years, there will be many more blended learning programs that will be adopted by organizations.  This will enable companies to cover more employees along with an instructor led model, leading to improvement in training effectiveness.

The business wins by upskilling its workforce to keep pace with the rate of change and the employees win by getting new skills to keep them employed now and in the future.

Elearning is going to become a more strategic part of every Learning and Development organization across the world.
