Industry leaders underline the future of global retail and share new strategies on how digital transformation is creating stronger connections with customers
Walmart Global Tech India today concluded its flagship event – Converge @ Walmart, which delved into technological shifts that are shaping the future of global retail. The two-day virtual event provided a platform for global leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, startup and student communities to come together and share their insights on global retail developments. This first of its kind immersive retail tech event saw nearly 13,000 registrants from over 100 companies, 124 startups and 67 academic institutions.
Among the technology and business leaders speaking at the event were Doug McMillon, President & CEO, Walmart Inc, Suresh Kumar, EVP – CDO & CTO, Walmart Inc., Judith McKenna, President & CEO, Walmart International, Sameer Nigam and Rahul Chari, Founders – PhonePe, Sindhu Gangadharan – SVP and MD, SAP Labs India, and Jeyendran Venugopal, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Flipkart, Sonam Wangchuk – Director, Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Lalitha Ramani – SVP & Chief Product Officer, Myntra, Nir Eyal– Author, Hooked, Geetha Manjunath – Founder & CEO, NIRAMAI, Lizzie Chapman – Co-founder & CEO, ZestMoney, Suhasini Sampath – Co-founder, Yoga Bar, and Kurt Keutzer- Professor, University of California, and other key speakers. An exciting tech challenge titled ‘SparkTech Showcase’ was also organized at the event to enable young talent in bringing forth their best hacks on this global forum. The winning startup team AHODS Technologies India Pvt Ltd gets an opportunity to be a part of Walmart ‘Startup Mentoring Program’ and work with Walmart Global Tech India to pilot their idea. The winning student team TechArmy (KIET Group of Institutions) gets to interview at Walmart Global Tech India. In addition, the event featured a specially curated ‘India Innovators Showcase’ — a collection of inspirational talks by India’s leading retail innovators.
