Devic Earth Wins Grant of 18 Lakhs from Startup Karnataka’s Elevate Idea2PoC

Devic Earth, the global leader in ambient air pollution control technology used by Environment & Sustainability leaders, announced today that it has won an Idea2PoC grant of INR 18 Lakhs from Karnataka Elevate, 2021 an initiative by Startup Karnataka.

Idea2PoC is an initiative by Startup Karnataka that aims to identify and amplify potential startups with unique ideas or concepts. The Idea2PoC grant is awarded to help startups convert an idea into a proof of concept. This further helps the startup in conducting pilot studies to test a service/product.

The startup applicants underwent a 4-stage evaluation process to qualify for the final stage. After following a rigorous selection process in the Idea2PoC Evaluation Committee meeting, under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka, Devic Earth was named a winner of the 2021 edition of the prestigious initiative where 100 startups were selected amongst a vast list of applicants.

Speaking on the win, Radhica Kanniganti, Head of Engineering, Devic Earth, said, “The funds from Karnataka Elevate 2021 will help us further develop our marquee product Pure Skies into a personal air purifier that is affordable to everybody. This will bring us one step closer to our mission of saving a million lives per year”.

Meena Nagraj, MD Startup Karnataka, Government of Karnataka said, “Government of Karnataka under the Startup Policy 2015 has initiated the Idea2PoC/ ELEVATE (Grant-in-aid) program to identify and elevate the most innovative startups of the State to the next level of Entrepreneurship.  The identified startups are given grants up to INR 50 Lakhs to transform their ideas or concepts into proof of concept in the real world. The grant given is completely equity free.  As part of this initiative, Devic Earth Private. Limited., a GreenTech startup, is one of the winners of the Idea2PoC/ELEVATE 2021.  We are glad to have identified and supported Devic Earth, which has created a pathbreaking innovation to make clean air accessible to all.”

The funds received will be used to get Pure Skies 3.0 into the proof-of-concept stage. The product shall be wearable or attachable device that will create a clean air bubble around each individual thus helping protect individuals from exposure to health hazards of air pollution.

The grant comes at a time the Karnataka government aims to boost and encourage startups in the state.  As part of the initiative, the government aims to identify innovative startups and aid government support to scale their products or services via its arm Startup Karnataka.
