Ookla Speedtest Global Index: India shows significant improvement in its global ranking for median mobile speeds, dips 1 spot in fixed broadband speeds

• India increased eight spots in rank globally for median mobile speeds, from 113th in October to 105th in November

• Median mobile download speeds in India increased from 16.50 Mbps in October to 18.26 Mbps in November

• India decreased one spot in rank globally for overall median fixed broadband speeds, from 79th in October to 80th in November

• Overall fixed median download speeds in India saw a slight increase from 48.78 in October to 49.09 Mbps in November

Ookla®, the global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights today released an update on the Speedtest Global Index for the month of November 2022.

According to Ookla®, in the month of November, India recorded 18.26 Mbps median mobile download speeds which is better than 16.50 Mbps in October 2022.  With this, the country has shown significant improvement in its global ranking and is now at 105th position from 113th in October.

However, India decreased one spot in rank globally for overall median fixed broadband speeds and is now at 80th position from 79th in October. India’s performance in fixed median download speeds witnessed a slight increase from 48.78 in October to 49.09 Mbps in November.

According to the November Speedtest Global Index, Qatar leads the chart for global median mobile speeds, whereas Senegal jumps 16 spots in rank globally. For fixed broadband download speeds, Chile remains on top position, and Palestine and Bhutan increased 14 spots in rank globally.

Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index ranks mobile and fixed broadband speeds from around the world on a monthly basis. Data for the Global Index comes from the hundreds of millions of tests taken by real people using Speedtest every month to test their Internet performance.
