By facilitating transparency between leaders and their businesses, Kyndryl enables its customers to proactively avoid disasters

Issues big or small in heterogenous IT environments, when overlooked, can lead to nightmares, and hamper the organization’s operational environment. Keeping in mind the diverse needs of their customers for IT infrastructure, Kyndryl is investing and co-creating solutions with its growing partner ecosystem to help enterprises build, manage, and modernize their vital systems.

Kyndryl Bridge, a recently launched platform, helps business and technology leaders analyse and navigate potential risks. Sreekrishnan Venkateswaran, Chief Technology Officer, Kyndryl India, in an interview with CXOToday elaborates on the need to simplify the IT infrastructure in the age of digital transformation.

  1. What is Kyndryl Bridge? How is it going to help your customers better? Have any customers in India opted for the service?

Kyndryl Bridge is a new open integration platform that provides business leaders real-time insights into their complex IT estates. It discovers symptoms that can lead to business problems and identifies automation to tackle detected issues at source before they lead to disruptions. The idea is to elevate operational strategy from being reactive to turning proactive. This shift is possible by moving from a metrics-based approach to an analytics-based technique for keeping IT environments healthy. Kyndryl Bridge will help businesses to bring down outages by infusing the power of data analytics into operations; it will enable CIOs to measure the number of prevented disruptions in addition to tracking recovered failures.

Kyndryl Bridge brings a new level of observability and visibility to heterogeneous IT environments, while taking a tool-agnostic approach that gives customers the flexibility to use the tools they know and trust. It collects and aggregates the system’s performance and operational data. It then analyses results in real time to provide IT teams the intelligence needed to keep their systems running at peak performance. Kyndryl Bridge also offers access to a vast library of automation along with an AI-powered ability to locate contents of relevance.

Kyndryl manages large IT estates in India; several of our customers have thousands of their servers under our management. We will soon start the process of rolling out Kyndryl Bridge for our customers in India. This will give them improved business outcomes and heightened control by providing integrated observability over their tech infrastructure.

2. How important do you think is simplifying the overall IT infrastructure of any company, given their diverse and complex needs?

Simplification engineering and an intuitive user experience are key to business success in today’s world, whether you are building a product or a service. In some sense, most exponential technologies bring in disruption by taking complexity out of the consumption equation.

This is what Kyndryl Bridge seeks to achieve as well. By ingesting all data that an environment emits into a common engine and producing insightful visibility across the board through a unified dashboard, it brings in a layer of abstraction that insulates complexities. But simplification of user experience is often built with deep tech that encompasses AI and analytics. Kyndryl Bridge achieves simplification for the user by looking under the hood for hidden correlations in operational data lakes, and causation between imperceptible patterns and future disruptions.

3. As companies are looking at AI and automation to simplify business processes, how is Kyndryl helping them streamline these processes with its services?

Kyndryl is organized into six global practices: CloudApplications, Data & AISecurity & ResiliencyNetwork & EdgeDigital Workplace Services, and Core enterprise & zCloud. The practices collaborate to advise our customers on digital environments and advanced technology adoption. In addition, we are innovating and co-creating solutions with our growing partner ecosystem to help enterprises build, manage, and modernize their vital systems.

Kyndryl Bridge is an example of how we bring our AI and analytics capabilities together to create a platform through which advanced IT services are delivered and delivery processes streamlined. The analytics and real-time insights that you see on the Kyndryl Bridge dashboard are backed by AI algorithms. For example, Kyndryl Bridge relies on natural language processing (NLP) to understand written text in incident response records; it uses machine learning models to predict disruptions from observed symptoms, and classifiers to associate automation marketplace content with outages. We also make sure that delivery process transformation goes hand in hand with the technical capability transformation so that our customers are able to derive material business benefit.

4. How does Kyndryl differentiate itself from its competitors?

Kyndryl took birth as a market leader in IT infrastructure services, with existing and trusted customer relationships, deep knowledge of their systems, processes and their ecosystems. With over 4000 global customers including 75% of Fortune 100, meeting our customers’ complex and varied challenges is the primary driver of our progress.

Kyndryl Bridge is an example of how our scale differentiates us. When a customer experiences a technical problem, Kyndryl Bridge can base recommendations on collective deep learning. Also, our automation marketplace has massive content that keeps growing, thanks to our spread and reach.

Another differentiation follows from the sheer range of our global partnerships. Our partnership announcements led by cloud hyperscalers such as Microsoft, Google and AWS in the past year has created an ecosystem that we leverage to build capabilities to serve our customers using the best technologies available.

We are proud of our investments in our people. Our inaugural class of Distinguished Engineers are among the best and brightest technologists, industry leaders, and innovators in the world. This peer group of PhDs, data scientists and researchers bring a unique insight into future areas of opportunity. We are already in a position of strength and will continue to build this with talent, IP, data and insights.

5. In your view, what steps can organisations take to digitally transform themselves?

Organizations are facing disruptive business models driven by technology. This holds across the spectrum – from finance and retail to telecom and manufacturing. If businesses do not react, their market share will slide. But if they make bold moves and stitch new business models, they will not only retain market share but will see explosive growth. To achieve this goal, however, they cannot tentatively digitize just their IT periphery; they will have to let technology seep in and transform their core business models. We all see how Fintech is disrupting financial services, how Industry 4.0 is transforming the manufacturing space, how 5G is changing telecom, and how Construction 2.0Agritech and Adtech are revolutionizing their respective sectors.

Most of our customers realize that they are in the midst of digital disruption, and they have a distinct vision to navigate the curve and end up in a high-growth space. But they need help to react, respond and transform with technology – and they see a trusted partner in Kyndryl.
